Introducing Cytron’s latest addition to the SmartDriveDuo series – the 60Amp version! Supporting dual channels with a continuous current of 60Amps for each channel, it simplifies the process of building combat/sumo robots. Just select a motor+wheel, pair it with a high-power battery, use thick wires, connect it to MDDS60, choose an RC controller, and your robot is ready! Refer to the User’s Manual for detailed instructions, and find the Quick Start Guide here.
Derived from the insights gained from MD10C, MDD10A, MD30C, MDDS10, and MDS160A, we are excited to launch this smart motor driver and are eager to witness the innovative applications you’ll create.
The SmartDriveDuo60 inherits smart features from MDDS10 while boasting a higher continuous current capability of 60Amps per channel. Equipped with a brushless fan on the top cover for effective cooling, MDDS60 accepts various control signals, including RC (Radio Control), analog voltage from a potentiometer, PWM from microcontrollers like Arduino or PIC, and can even be controlled via UART (serial) commands. Operation modes are configurable through the DIP switch on MDDS60, and commonly used configurations are printed on the bottom cover. High current MOSFETs operate at 16KHz for quiet performance, and the top and bottom covers are added for proper coverage and fan mounting.
Featuring an onboard temperature sensor, this smart driver can stage by stage limit the output current to prevent overheating and damage. The peak current is 100A for 1 second, automatically limiting the output current.
To enhance RC receiver compatibility, a 2×3 header pin is added for easy wiring using 2 RC extension cables, taking only a minute to set up.
With MDDS60, you can connect up to 3 SLA batteries in series for a 45V DC input, requiring only one power input to operate the motor and driver. It supports 3-cell and 6-cell Li-po batteries within the operating voltage range and includes a battery low voltage warning feature.
Ensure to use proper AWG8 Red and Black multicore wires for battery and motor connections, as jumper wires may not support high-current applications.

- On board reset button to restart the MCU after changing operation mode.
- Temperature feedback for current limit and prevent overheating of MOSFET.
- Support up to 60A continuous current at room temperature.
- Support up to 100A peak for 1 second. Current will be limited as temperature raises.
- Suitable for combat or sumo robot.
- 16KHz switching frequency for quiet operation.
- On board switching voltage regulator for higher power efficiency.
- Battery low voltage monitoring mode.
- We have tried this driver with single power window motor at 24V, full load without smoke coming out 🙂
- NO polarity protection, please double check the power input connection.
- Do use proper cable/wire for the battery and load, thin/normal cable/wire will melt and burn.
