The ubiquity of DC brushed motors in various applications, ranging from conveyors and Automated Guide Vehicles (AGVs) to mobile robots and combat robots, stems from their straightforward operation – simply connect the motor’s two terminals to power, and it starts rotating effortlessly. However, to exert precise control over the speed and direction using a controller, the SmartDriveDuo-30 steps in as the ideal solution. Specifically designed for combat robots, this motor driver seamlessly accepts Radio Control (RC) signals to independently or concurrently drive two DC brushed motors. Boasting a peak current support of up to 80Amps (1 second) and a continuous current of 30Amps per channel, it’s perfectly suited for medium-power motors.
SmartDriveDuo-30 intelligently accommodates control signals from various sources, including RC (Radio Control), PWM from a microcontroller, analog voltage from a Potentiometer/Variable Resistor/Joystick, and UART data from a microcontroller. The operational mode is easily configured through the DIP switch – detailed settings are available in the User’s Manual. To enhance RC receiver compatibility, we’ve incorporated a 2×3 header pin, facilitating a quick 2-minute setup with the included 2 x RC extension cables, configured by default in RC controller, Mixed control mode.
With an expansive operating voltage range, MDDS30 allows the series connection of two SLA batteries, supporting up to 35VDC input. A single power input efficiently operates both the motor and driver. Worried about battery compatibility? Fear not – the MDDS30 accommodates 3-cell and 6-cell Li-po batteries within its operating voltage. And, as a cherry on top, it features a battery low voltage warning. Ideal for any DC Brush motor meeting the criteria of two terminals, an operating voltage between 7V and 35VDC, a rated current ≤ 30A, and a peak current ≤ 80A.
